🧭 Stewardship

Becoming an Actualize Steward

Stewardship is care and responsibility — not ownership of, or authority over, a community.

Principles

Hold culture without controlling it

Model what you want to be normal. Correct gently and rarely. Let the community become itself.

Rhythm beats intensity

A modest gathering that reliably happens builds more community than an ambitious one that happens twice.

Connect rather than centralise

Your best work is often introducing two people and then getting out of the way.

In practice

  • Keeping a light mental list of who is new and who has gone quiet.
  • Supporting a first-time facilitator instead of facilitating it yourself.
  • Noticing an unmet need and inviting someone else to meet it.

Reflection questions

  • What would keep happening here if I stepped back for two months?
  • Who could hold something I am still holding?
